Cycle rally organised by BSF in Jalandhar

A cycle rally was organised by the Border Security Force, Punjab Frontier in Jalandhar district on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Chandigarh: A cycle rally was organised by the Border Security Force, Punjab Frontier in Jalandhar district on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. As many as 100 BSF troopers took part in the rally. The rally was flagged off by BSF, Inspector General, Mukul Goel at 6 AM and it passed through several parts of the city and concluded at Model Town where Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma, Police Commissioner Parveen Kumar Sinha and local MLA Sushil Rinku welcomed them, an official said. The BSF official said around 150 kg of heroin has so far been seized by the Punjab Frontier of the BSF from the Indo-Pak border. Last year, 280 kg of heroin was seized. The UN General Assembly had passed a resolution in 1987 proclaiming June 26 of each year as the 'International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking'.
