Covid Crisis: Uttar Pradesh Under Complete Lockdown Today, Govt To Sanitise The Entire State
All districts of Uttar Pradesh are under lockdown starting from 8pm on Saturday, which will continue till 7am, Monday.
UP Lockdown: Uttar Pradesh has announced a lockdown every Sunday across the state till May 15 in order to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19). The Sunday lockdown comes days after Allahabad High Court asked chief minister Yogi Adityanath to consider imposing complete lockdown-like measures for two to three weeks in areas worst hit by the virus.
Unlike Delhi, the new COVID-19 guidelines do not mention any provision for e-pass.

All districts of UP are under lockdown starting from 8 pm on Saturday, which will continue till 7 am, Monday. No services apart from essential ones will be allowed in the state. The UP government said that a massive sanitisation programme will be carried out across all 75 districts during this period.
What's allowed, what's not in Sunday lockdown
- Only essential services will be allowed, the state government has strictly maintained.
- As all shops, markets, commercial institutions, offices will remain closed, sanitisation work will be taken up.
- Unlike Delhi's weekend lockdown, Uttar Pradesh's lockdown will be continued every week till May 15.
- Medical and health-related emergencies will function.
- In general, the government has determined a penalty of ₹1,000 for not wearing a mask for the first time. This will becomes 10,000 for flouting the rule for the second time.
On Saturday, Lucknow reported 36 Covid deaths, Kanpur 15 and Varanasi 8. The 10 districts that have more than 2,000 active Covid-19 cases, including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Gorakhpur, have already been placed under night curfew.
The state on Saturday recorded 27,426 fresh cases of the coronavirus disease, the highest number of cases reported in 24 hours since the pandemic began in March last year, and 103 deaths.
