Covid Crisis: Delhi CM Kejriwal Says, 'Less Than 100 ICU Beds Left', Requests Centre To Provide High Flow Oxygen

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference and showed the scary picture of what the national capital is witnessing. Kejriwal said that Delhi is left with less than 100 ICU Beds.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference on Sunday regarding the current Covid situation in the national capital. Kejriwal addressed the issues the city is facing in finding beds for Covid patients and said that Delhi urgently needs high supply oxygen beds.

Kejriwal said," Positivity rate has increased from 24% to 30% in last 24 hours. Less than 100 ICU beds left & there's an oxygen shortage. Spoke to Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan yesterday & Amit Shah ji this morning regarding lack of beds & informed them that we're in dire need of more oxygen supply."

The Delhi CM further said, "Around 25,000 COVID19 cases reported in Delhi in last 24 hours. There are 10,000 beds in Delhi, incl that of the central govt. Of which, 1,800 beds currently reserved for COVID. I request Centre to allot 7,000 of 10,000 beds in view of severe COVID cases."

Arvind Kejriwal also said that to solve the shortage of beds to some extent the government will provide high-flow oxygen beds at the Yamuna Sports Complex and will reopen the Covid-19 facility at the Radhasoami Centre.

Kejriwal said that the state govt will provide over 6,000 high-flow oxygen beds will in next 2-3 days at Yamuna Sports Complex. Commonwealth Games Village and some schools too will be turned into COVID centres and the COVID facility at Radha Soami Satsang Beas will be reopened.

CAIT demands 15-day complete lockdown in Delhi

Meanwhile, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) writes to Delhi LG Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, demanding imposition of a 15-day lockdown in Delhi, in the larger interest of the citizens. It says that the "Delhi is sitting on Covid bomb"

"The havoc of the Corona epidemic is growing very fast across the country and in the wake of the rapid growth of covid  in Delhi, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT),  in the larger interest of the citizens and traders of Delhi, in a letter to Delhi LG Shri Anil Baijal & Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejiwal today demanded that a lock-down of at least 15 days should be imposed in Delhi with immediate effect and strict measures of checking Covid should be deployed at Airports, Railway Stations, Bus Stand and all borders of Delhi to ensure that no covid affected person may enter Delhi," it says.
