Covishield Booster Dose To Cost Rs 600, Vaccination Centres To Get Jab At Discounted Price: SII

The company also informed that private hospitals will be able to procure Covishield booster dose at a discounted price. 

New Delhi: Pharma giant Serum Institute of India (SII) on Friday revealed the price of Coronavirus booster dose which the government has allowed for all adults above the age of 18 years from Sunday at private vaccination centres.

As per the announcement, the Covishield booster shot will be available for adults at Rs 600 (plus taxes). This is same as the price of Covidshield's first and second dose being taken at private vaccination centres across the country. 

The company also informed that private hospitals will be able to procure Covishield booster dose at a discounted price. 

As per the announcement made by Union Health Ministry, all those who are more than 18 years of age and have completed 9 months or 39 weeks after the administration of second dose, are eligible for the precaution dose now.

"It has been decided that the precaution dose of Covid vaccines will be made available to the 18-plus population group at private vaccination centres. This facility would be available at all private vaccination centres," a ministry statement said.

The ministry also said that it will soon issue guidelines on precaution dose for all above 18 years of age

Currently, over 2.4 crore precaution doses have also been administered across the country to healthcare workers, frontline workers and those aged above 60 years. 

"Adding an extra layer of safety! Precaution dose to be available to 18+ age group from 10th April, 2022, at private vaccination centres. All 18+ who have completed nine months after administration of second dose would be eligible for precaution dose," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Twitter.

Government data reveals that so far about 96 per cent of all 15 plus population in the country has received at least one Covid-19 vaccine jab while about 83 per cent of 15 plus population has received both doses.

How To Book Appointment For Booster Dose

Those above 18 years and have completed 9 months of their second Covid vaccine dose will be eligible to book appointment for vaccination through Co-WIN portal (www.cowin.gov.in) or through the Aarogya Setu App. 

The appointment will be alloted after after signing-in through the registered mobile number and Aadhar card.
