Covid-19: India Records 6,050 Fresh Coronavirus Cases In Last 24 Hours

As per the data shared by the ministry, 14 more fatalities have been reported due to the Covid-19 virus.

India has recorded 6,050 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The fresh tally of infection is 13 percent higher than Thursday, which stood at 5,300 cases. The active case tally now stands at 28,303.

As per the data shared by the ministry, 14 more fatalities have been reported due to the virus. Three deaths have been confirmed from Maharashtra, two each from Karnataka and Rajasthan, one each from Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, and one death was reconciled by Kerala.

The total number of people who have lost their lives due to Covid-19 now stands at of 5,30,943. And the number of people recovered from the virus and discharged from hospital is 4,41,85,858.

The daily positivity rate, an indicator of the spread of the infection, currently stands at 3.39 percent,  according to the health ministry data.

The active cases now comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid recovery rate has been recorded at 98.75 per cent.

Under the nationwide Vaccination Drive, India has so far administered 220.66 crore Covid vaccine doses (95.21 cr second doses and 22.87 cr precautionary doses), of which 2,334 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

Menawhile, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will chair a review meet with the health ministers of all states and Union Territories on Friday afternoon, reported news agency ANI, citing sources.

On Wednesday, Covid empowerment working group also conducted a review routine meeting. Dr V K Paul, Dr Rajiv Bahl, DG, ICMR and other senior health officials attended this meeting.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Mandaviya said the Omicron sub-variant has not led to an increase in hospitalisations and there was no need to worry. However, he warned that people should still remain vigilant in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the country.
