'Couldn't Control My Drink But Unzipping Was Not Sexual': Man Who Peed On Flight Tells Court
Air India Case: Shankar Mishra's lawyer said in the court that the case does not put Mishra as a 'lustful man'.
Air India Urination Incident: Accused Shankar Mishra on Wednesday told Delhi's Patiala House Court that his action of 'unzipping' was not for the purpose of any sexual desire.
“I couldn't control my drink, but the unzipping was not for sexual desire. The complainant's case does not put him as a lustful man,” Shankar’s lawyer submitted in the court.
The statement was made while the court was hearing a bail plea of Shankar Mishra, who has been accused of urinating on a woman co-passenger on an Air India flight in November last year.
Meanwhile, the court has reserved the order on Mishra’s bail plea.
Shankar Mishra’s lawyer said that the trial will take time and the man (Shankar Mishra) has been sacked from his job after these allegations.
“He is not at flight risk,” the lawyer further said.
“My client has clearly and willingly participated in any inquiries related to the alleged event, with the intention to establish his innocence and will continue to act in this bona fide manner and assist the police in the investigation,” Mishra’slawyer advocate Manu Sharma said, quoted ANI.
The lawyer further submitted that in FIR, only one non-bailable offence is mentioned, others are bailable offences.
Opposing the bail plea, Delhi police said that if enlarged on bail, Mishra can influence the complainant.
The Public Prosecutor representing Delhi Police mentioned that the statement of the complainant under 164 has been recorded along with several others and more statements are yet to be recorded soon.
In another such incident, a passenger reportedly urinated publically in front of departure gate 6 at Delhi IGI Airport's Terminal 3 on Sunday, January 8. The man, identified as Jauhar Ali Khan, seemed to be inebriated and also abused passengers.
"He was arrested and later released on a bail bond," informed Delhi Police, reported ANI.
