"Irresponsible Act": Kejriwal Seeks Action Against Nizamuddin Event Organisers
In a press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said there is no local community transmission right now in Delhi amid Nizamuddin Markaz case in which 1,548 people were brought out of the Markaz having 441 of them symptomatic.
Coronavirus in Delhi: The health authorities are alarmed by the sudden outbreak and finding of multiple coronavirus cases in the Delhi-based headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin West which has turned into a hotspot for COVID-19 new cases.
In a press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said there is no local community transmission right now in Delhi amid Nizamuddin Markaz case in which 1,548 people were brought out of the Markaz having 441 of them symptomatic.
The Delhi Chief Minister further elaborated there are 97 total cases of coronavirus in Delhi including five which are cured and have been discharged from the hospital, besides two deaths. There are 89 cases right now. One patient is on the ventilator and two are on oxygen support. The condition of 86 patients is stable, Kejriwal added.
Kejriwal said out of 97 cases, 24 are from Nizamuddin Markaz (also known as Tablighi Jamaat), 41 are having a travel history to foreign countries and 22 patients are the family members of those who have returned from abroad. 10 cases yet to be ascertained as reported by PTI.
Kejriwal said till now 1,548 people have been brought out of Nizamuddin Markaz and 441 of them were symptomatic. They have been shifted to hospitals and their tests are being conducted. 1,107 who did not show symptoms have been sent to quarantine.
"It was a highly irresponsible act," the Delhi Chief Minister reportedly said.
The Chief Minister said, "If any negligence is found on part of any officers in Nizamuddin Markaz case, then action will be taken against them also".
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was keen that criminal action must follow for allowing such a large gathering in the midst of the restrictions put in place in view of the coronavirus outbreak, has already asked the Delhi Police to register an FIR against the maulana of the Markaz.
