Coronavirus In India: Over 24K New Cases For Second Straight Day; India Now Third Worst-Hit Country In The World

Coronavirus in India: India is now the third country in the world with the highest number of coronavirus cases. The country witnessed yet another big spike in coronavirus cases with 24,248 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The total has now reached 6,97,413 lakhs.

Coronavirus In India: India witnessed one of the biggest spikes in coronavirus cases with 24,248 fresh cases in the last 24 hours the total has now reached 6,97,413 lakhs according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data. The number of active cases in the country is 2,53,287. With 425 new fatalities, the death toll has now become 19,693. India has  now overtaken Russia to become the third-worst affected country by coronavirus in the world. Data shows that the total number of people recovered 4,24,432 Worst Affected states Maharashtra is still leading as the worst affected state with a total of 2,06,619 cases out of which 86,057 are active cases. There has been a total of 8,822 fatalities. Tamil Nadu now stands in second place with a total of 1,11,151 cases. The state has recorded 46,863 active cases and 1510 fatalities. Delhi the third-worst affected area is very close to reaching the 1 lakh mark with a total of 99,444 cases. The capital had recently taken out a slew of measures to combat the rising cases in the city. There are 25,038 active cases and 3067 deaths due to COVID 19 in the capital city.Gujarat remained the fourth worst affected state in the country with a total of 36,037and 8202 active cases. the state has recorded 1943 deaths so far. States with over 20,000 cases Uttar Pradesh has also seen a sharp rise in cases and has recorded a total of 27707 cases. Other states with more than 20,000 cases include West Bengal (22,126), Telangana (23,902), Rajasthan (20164), and Karnataka (23474). States with over 10,000 cases States with more than 10,000 cases include Andhra Pradesh (18697), Assam (11,388), Bihar (11876), Haryana (17,005) and Madhya Pradesh (14930).
