India's Daily Covid Death Toll Crosses 1000-Mark Again, Over 42k Cases Recorded In Last 24 Hrs

Covid In India: India has registered a slight dip in cases that yesterday as the country reported 42,766 new cases in the last 24 hours. India's Active Caseload is currently at 4,55,033. Active cases constitute 1.48% of total cases.
2,99,33,538 Total Recoveries across the country so far.
45,254 patients recovered during last 24 hours. Recovery Rate has increased to 97.20%.
The weekly Positivity Rate remains below 5%, currently at 2.34%.
Daily positivity rate at 2.19%, less than 3% for 19 consecutive days.

Delta Plus and Kappa Variant raise concern
Ninety cases of the highly transmissible Delta plus variant of the coronavirus have been detected in Tripura through the genome sequencing of samples, officials in the state said. This is the first reported case of the deadly and highly infectious variant of COVID-19 in the northeast.
After the first two cases of Delta Plus variant were detected in Uttar Pradesh, now Kappa strain of COVID-19 has been identified in the state. As per IANS report, a 66-year-old man, who tested positive for Kappa variant in UP’s Sant Kabir Nagar has died.
The strain was detected following the collection of his sample on June 13 during the routine genome sequencing exercise and sent to CSIR`s Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi.
