India Records Over 45K Covid Cases For 4th Consecutive Day, Mumbai Witnesses Less Hospital Admissions
With over 45,000 cases for the fourth consecutive day, the total number of coronavirus infections in India rose to 13,85,522 on Sunday. The death toll rose to 32,063 with 705 deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the data provided by the Health Ministry, India has over 4.6 lakh active cases, while 8.8 lakh people have recovered.
The number of recoveries rose to 885,576 as 36,145 people were cured of the viral disease in the last 24 hours, according to health ministry’s data. The gap between the number of active cases at 467,882 and those of recovered people further widened to 417,694.

The recovery rate now stands at 63.91%.
India has ramped-up its testing capacity for COVID-19 and conducted over 4.20 lakh tests in a day, the highest ever, the Union Health Ministry said Saturday, crediting the rise in the number of labs for the achievement.
Mumbai sees a decline in Covid-19 hospital admissions
The worst-hit state Maharashtra has surpassed the 3.6 lakh mark of total cases of covid-19 while the death toll in the state stands at 13,389.
"Mumbai is recording hospital admissions of 150 to 200 Covid-19 patients daily, a drop from 1,000 daily admissions over a month", said BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal during a Facebook Live address on Saturday, in an indication that the number of symptomatic patients is on a steady decline in the city.
Karnataka the new hotspot
Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases in Karnataka, more than 3,000 infected people are untraceable in Bengaluru. Health authorities say they have not been able to trace the missing coronavirus patients, who account for 7 percent of the total patients in the city, despite best efforts.
"We could trace some of the positive patients with the help of police but 3,338 are still untraceable. Some of them provided the wrong mobile number and address at the time of giving samples. They disappeared after getting positive results," said N Manjunath Prasad, commissioner of the city's civic body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
Karnataka reported 5,072 new coronavirus cases in a 24- hour period, taking the state's total tally to 90,942, even as 72 more patients succumbed to the virus, according to the health ministry.
Bengaluru recorded the highest number of cases daily in the southern state. On Saturday, the city witnessed 2,036 new cases, increasing Bengaluru's total tally to 43,503, including 31,882 active cases.
Global Status
India is the world's third worst-hit country by the virus, after the United States and Brazil. The United States on Saturday recorded 68,212 new coronavirus cases in the previous 24 hours, Johns Hopkins University reported in its real-time tally.
North Korea reports first suspected COVID case, declares emergency
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un placed the city of Kaesong near the border with South Korea under total lockdown after a person was found with suspected COVID-19 symptoms, saying he believes “the vicious virus” may have entered the country, state media reported Sunday. If the person is officially declared a virus patient, he or she would be the North’s first confirmed coronavirus case.
