Congress Woman Leader Questions Party's Decision To Field Rape Accused In UP Bypolls; Gets Thrashed By Workers

Congress leader Tara Yadav protested over the ticket given to Congress candidate Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi from Deoria for UP bypolls.

A women Congress leader Tara Yadav was thrashed by party workers at an event in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria on Saturday for questioning the candidature for the upcoming by-polls of a man, who she accused of being a rapist. Speaking to the ABP News, Tara Yadav said, " the party gave the ticket to the wrong person who is a "rapist". On one hand, our party leaders are fighting for justice for Hathras victim, and on the other hand, party ticket is being given to a rapist. This maligns the image of the entire Congress party. As soon as I said this during the vent, somebody pushed me from behind and assaulted me. Am I not even allowed to put forward my point-of-view." The Congress leader after being manhandled by party workers, asked Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to take an action in the incident. Taking cognizance of the matter, National Commission for Women chairman Rekha Sharma took to the Twitter and said, "How all these sick minded people come in politics..?? Will be taking cognizance."

The committee will submit its report within 3 days. Meanwhile, two workers have been suspended from the party. Long time Congress member Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi is contesting from the Deoria Assembly seat in the upcoming bypolls. The nomination for the bypolls in seven Assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh began on Friday. The voting will take place on November 3. The counting of votes will take place on November 10.
