Congress Takes Dig At Khaki Shorts After Rahul T-Shirt Row. BJP Says 'It's Bharat Todo Yatra'

Taking to Twitter, Congress said: “To free the country from shackles of hate and undo the damage done by BJP-RSS. Step by step, we will reach our goal."

The Congress Party has begun a 3,570-kilometer Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra that would journey through 12 states and two union territories in order to resurrect itself electorally.

The Congress today has a presence in only two states: Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

Taking to Twitter, Congress said: “To free the country from shackles of hate and undo the damage done by BJP-RSS. Step by step, we will reach our goal."

The tweet has sparked row since it portrays the khaki shorts on fire.

'The Picture Is Symbolic Of Congress Politics': BJP's Tejasvi Surya Hits Back At Cong's Tweet

In response to the Congress' incendiary tweet, the BJP's firebrand leader slammed the grand old party, calling the image a symbol of Congress politics.

"The picture is symbolic of Congress politics – of lighting fires in the country. Fires they lit in the past has burnt them in most of India. The remaining embers in Rajasthan and Chattisgrah will also reduce to ashes very soon. Save this tweet," Tejasvi Surya tweeted.

In another tweet, the BJP MP accused the Congress party for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the 2002 Godhra train robbery.

“Congress fire burnt Delhi in 1984. It’s ecosystem burnt alive 59 karsevaks in Godhra in 2002. They have again given their ecosystem a call for violence. With Rahul Gandhi ‘fighting against Indian State’, Congress ceases to be political party with faith in constitutional means”, he tweeted.

'Its Bharat Todo & Aag Lagao Yatra': Sambit Patra

During a news conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra demanded that the Congress party remove the image immediately. "It is not the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra,' but the 'Bharat Todo' and 'Aag Lagao Yatra'.  This is not the first time the Congress Party has acted in this manner. I  want to question Rahul Gandhi about whether he wants violence in our country. Congress should remove this image immediately," Patra remarked.

BJP Is 'Jhooth Ki Factory': Congress Jairam Ramesh

Calling BJP 'Jhooth Ki Factory', Congress Leader Jairam Ramesh stated: "I don't want to talk about T-shirts, underwear. If they (BJP) want to make an issue about containers, shoes or T-shirts, it shows that they are afraid and can say anything. 'Jhoot ki factory' is running overtime on social media."

Huge crowds gathered on the second day of the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kerala as Rahul Gandhi started walking from Vellayani intersection.

Numerous people queued up on both sides of the road to see Gandhi, who is also the MP for Wayanad in Kerala, lead the "padayatra" in addition to those who showed out to participate in the yatra.
