'Be Ready To Kill Modi To Save Constitution,' Says Cong Leader In MP. CM Condemns Remarks, Orders FIR

However, Raja Pateria later said that his statement was manipulated and that his statement to finish PM Modi was in a political context and not in a literal sense.

New Delhi: Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh, Raja Pateria has landed in a controversy for his remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a purported video shared online, Pateria could be heard saying, “be ready kill PM Modi in order to save the democracy”.

After his video surfaced on social media, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra ordered to register a case against Pateria.

“.....Modi will end elections. Modi will divide on the basis of religion, caste and language. The future of Dalits, tribals and minorities is in danger. If you want to save the Constitution, then be ready to kill Modi. Kill in the sense of defeating him,” Pateria told a meeting of Congress workers at Pawai town in Panna district, as quoted by news agency PTI.

However, Pateria later said that his statement was manipulated and that his remarks were over the results of Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. He said that his statement to finish PM Modi was in a political context and not in a literal sense.

Reacting to Pateria’s statement, Mishra ordered a case to be registered against Pateria.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan slammed the remarks saying, "Congress is not able to compete with Prime Minister Modi on the field, so a Congress leader is talking about killing Modi. Congress's true face is now being revealed", news agency ANI reported.

"An FIR is being registered against him (Pateria) and the law will take its course," he told PTI.

“This is a statement of a fascist mindset,” Mishra said while talking to ABP News and added, “this Congress is no more that of Mahatma Gandhi, it’s Italy’s Congress now.”

He also targeted Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra saying, “what can one expect from such a party where the likes of Swara Bhaskar and Kanhaiya Kumar joined the Yatra, the entire party is adopting ‘tukde-tukde’ mindset”.

“I have ordered SP Panna to lodge an FIR against Pateria today itself and strict action will be taken against him,” the Minister said.
