Congress In Disarray, Trying To Cover-Up Mishandling Of Infighting Within Punjab: Amarinder Singh

Amarinder Singh criticized the Congress party saying that the party is in disarray and its leaders are trying to cover up the mishandling of the internal rambling within the state Congress unit.

New Delhi: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday criticized the Congress party saying that the party is in disarray and its leaders are trying to cover up the mishandling of the internal rambling within the state Congress unit.

His remarks came hours after the conflicting number of 78 legislators who demanded Amarinder Singh's ouster in a letter addressed to the party president Sonia Gandhi was shared by the Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala. The Congress leader also claimed that it was a democratic decision and not the one forced by Sonia Gandhi. As per the PTI report, pointing to the purported letter highlighting the lack of confidence in him, Singh said that it is a "comedy of errors."

The letter was shared by AICC general secretary Surjewala and Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Rawat. Rawat on Friday issued a press statement saying that 43 MLAs had written to the high command on the issue.

"It seems the entire party has become imbued with Navjot Singh Sidhu's sense of comic theatrics," Singh was quoted by PTI in its report.

"Next they will claim that 117 MLAs wrote to them against me," he said.

While speaking about the state of affairs within the Congress party, Singh claimed, "This is the state of affairs in the party. They cannot even coordinate their lies properly."

After a leadership tussle with Navjot Singh Sidhu, Singh resigned from the position of Punjab Chief Minister. Since then, Singh has been criticizing the leadership of the Congress Party.

The sudden resignation of Sidhu from the position of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief after Captian Amarinder Singh's resignation sends ripples across the state thus highlighting the crisis within the congress party.
