Coal Scam Case: Abhishek Banerjee To Appear Before ED On Monday, Slams BJP For 'Using Central Agencies'
"I'm ready to bow down before the power of people but not before the people in power," TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said.
New Delhi: Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP, is on his way to Delhi to be questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a money laundering case relating to the West Bengal coal scam.
"I'm ready to bow down before the power of people but not before the people in power," TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

While Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to appear before ED on March 21, his wife Rujira Banerjee is scheduled to appear on March 22.
However, it looks that just the TMC leader will be travelling to the national capital for the time being. Banerjee did not respond when questioned about his wife.
Slamming BJP, TMC MP said, "BJP govt is taking on TMC by using Central agencies. We've defeated them & they cannot digest this."
Banerjee and his spouse had previously sued the Delhi High Court over the ED's summons, claiming that because they are both West Bengal citizens, they should not be summoned to appear before the agency in the national capital.
On March 11, the Court rejected their petition. Following this, the ED issued a new summons to Banerjee and his spouse to appear in person at the ED's Delhi headquarters.
When Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, last arrived at the ED office in Delhi in September 2021, he was probed for eight hours by ED personnel.
