CM Kejriwal Lauds 'Bold & Innovative' Delhi Budget, Stresses AAP's Vision For Tackling Unemployment

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that price rise and unemployment are the two biggest challenges before common people, the Budget seeks to solve these problems.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that his government's 'Rozgar Budget' will prepare employment opportunities for youth in the national capital and every section of society was taken care of in the allocations.

"Our first budget in 2014-15 was Rs 31,000 crore. Today, the budget is Rs 76,000 crore, around 2.5 times higher," he highlighted, as reported by news agency PTI.

Addressing a press conference after the Budget announcement in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, CM Arvind Kejriwal said that the government aims to generate 20 lakh new jobs in the next five years.

"Today's budget aims to generate 20 lakh new jobs in the next five years. This is not a poll promise, but a major announcement in this 'bold and innovative' budget. We aim to increase the number of jobs by at least 12 per cent - from 33 per cent to 45 per cent," he said, as reported by news agency ANI

As per PTI, the Delhi Chief Minister also mentioned that price rise and unemployment are the two biggest challenges before common people, the Budget seeks to solve these problems.

"Delhi has 1.68 lakh people fit for employment. Eight sectors like tour and travel, construction have been identified for creating jobs. Delhi shopping festival will attract tourists, create jobs. Dilli Bazar portal will cover all shops and markets, boost the economy," he said.

Arvind Kejriwal stated that 3.75 lakh parents shifted their children to government schools. Delhi government has given health security to its citizens that is unparalleled, he added.

He highlighted that the efforts for free water, power, health, transport, education have made people's lives easy amid price rises.

"Rs 10 crore sanctioned for a residential school for homeless children that will have state-of-the-art facilities," he added.

Earlier, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia presented a "Rozgar Budget" in the Assembly with an outlay of Rs 75,800 crore for the financial year 2022-23, focussing on creating 20 lakh jobs in five years by setting up an electronic city and promoting night economy, retail and wholesale markets in the national capital.

The budget size for the next financial year is 9.86 per cent higher than that of the previous year (Rs 69,000 crore), the Deputy Chief Minister said.

"The Rozgar Budget will take the economy of Delhi on the path of progress and generate lakhs of employment opportunities," he asserted, as quoted by PTI.
