CJI DY Chandrachud Announces Launch Of 'Supreme Court Mobile App 2.0'

CJI DY Chandrachud on Wednesday launched an android version of the Supreme Court app's version 2.0. It would allow law officers of union ministries to follow the court proceedings in real-time.

The Supreme Court of India launched an android version 2.0 of its mobile application on Wednesday. This update will provide access to the law and nodal officers of various union ministries to watch the court proceedings in real-time. Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud said that this mobile application can be downloaded from Google Play Store and the iOS version of the same will be made available within a week's time.

He said, "Android version 2.0 is available while iOS will be available in a week's time. Besides lawyers and advocates on record, the application will give exclusive real-time access to all law officers and nodal officers of various ministries of the Central government. They can watch the court proceedings by logging in through this application. In real-time, they can also watch the status of their case filed, order, judgements, and pendency of their cases."

The mobile application which existed till now grants access to lawyers and advocates on-records to see the court proceedings, however, now it will also let law and nodal officers of various union ministries watch it in real-time.

During the outbreak of COVID-19 in India, the judiciary had to shift to online platforms overnight. The then CJI NV Ramana granted access to the court proceedings to a few media persons to watch them virtually and report about the same. The Supreme Court then launched a mobile application to enable media persons to report on Supreme Court proceedings without having to physically visit the court premises.
