Chhath Puja 2022: The auspicious festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated all across the country soon after the Diwali celebrations every year. This is one of the major festivals of India. Chhath is celebrated twice a year, one is Chaiti Chhath puja and the next is Kartik Chhath.
This festival is celebrated in most parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and also in some parts of Nepal. It is dedicated to Lord Surya and Goddess Chhathi and is celebrated on the sixth day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month.
This auspicious day is observed by offering prayer to Lord Sun and taking dips into the holy waters of the Ganga. The day celebrates the benevolent act of Lord Sun and his wife for granting this beautiful life on earth.
The festival is celebrated for four days where each day has its own history and significance. This year Chhath Puja will start on 28 October, 2022 and will end on 31 October, 2022. During Chhath Puja, women observe a 36-hour nirjala fast for the good health, success, and long life of their children.

Day 1: Nahay Khay
The very first day of Chhath Puja starts with Nahay Khay. On this day, women bathe in the Ganga or any other holy river and take only a single meal on this day.

Day 2: Kharna
The second day of Chhath Puja is called Kharna. Devotees fast for the entire day and make Kheer and roti at night. This time Kharna will be observed on October 29. On the night of Kharna, offerings of roti and jaggery kheer are made. Along with this, rice, milk dishes, and thekua are prepared for prasad.

Day 3: Chhath Puja
The third day of Chhath Puja, also known as Sandhya Arghya, is the day when devotees observe a fast without drinking any water. Devotees pray and make an offering (Arghya) to the setting Sun on this day. This day's fasting involves abstaining from all liquids and water for the entire night.
