'Change name of PM not Ramlila ground', Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal attacks BJP
Backing the move, NDMC) Mayor Ravinder Gupta also hoped that the proposal should not face any obstacle and the entire procedure of renaming should be completed before the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
New Delhi: CM Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday castigated the BJP for considering to rename the iconic Ramlila Maidan after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Launching a scathing attack on Twitter, the chief minister said “the BJP won't get votes by changing Ramleela maidan's name after AB Vajpayee.”
“It should instead change the name of PM as his name is not garnering them votes from the masses.”
Reports say BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation has proposed the renaming of Ramlila Maidan after the late prime minister. A few BJP councillors have also given their support in this regard. “A discussion on it will likely be taken up in the House of NDMC on August 30,” said Delhi BJP leader Ashish Sood to ABP News in a telephonic conversation. Backing the move, NDMC) Mayor Ravinder Gupta also hoped that the proposal should not face any obstacle and the entire procedure of renaming should be completed before the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. However, state party unit Manoj Tiwari invalidated the reports clearly stating the name of the ground will not be changed. “Some people are spreading myth that Ramlila Maidan’s name will be changed. This could only be a wrong mindset of certain politicians and nothing else. Lord Ram is worshiped by by everyone,” he said in a video message. Vajpayee, one of BJPs’ tallest leaders, was known for his oratory skills and many of his speeches drew large crowds at the sprawling Ramlila ground. He died on August 16 after a prolonged illness at the age of 93.
https://t.co/156uKuTQ7V — Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) August 25, 2018
