'Centre Wants Disruptions Because...': BJD MP Lists Reasons Why No-Trust Vote Isn't Feasible Against Govt
He said that though BJD holds reservations against the BJP as a political party, it cannot support a No Confidence Motion brought against the Central government.
New Delhi: Biju Janata Dal MP Pinaki Misra on Tuesday hit out at the Congress party in Lok Sabha saying that the BJP party will oppose every motion the Congress brings in to the House. He stated that while BJD holds reservations against the BJP as a political party, it cannot support this No Confidence Motion as BJD appreciates what the central govt has done for Odisha's growth.
He further said that the BJP led-government wants more disruptions in the Parliament so that it can push through bills without debate.
"I cannot support a No Confidence Motion against a Central Govt today, even though we are against the BJP as a political party...I am grateful for the many things that the Central Govt has done for Odisha which is why, in any case, I am unable to persuade myself on behalf of my party and leader to support a No Confidence Motion today which has been brought by the Congress party," Pinaki Misra said.
He continued his attack on the grand old party and said, "I have always believed that the Congress party is adept at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They are also very adept at cutting their nose to spite their face. They know that every time the PM has got up to speak on the Floor of this House, he has pushed the Congress party through the shredder...This defies common sense, logic, political sense. People of this country will decide if the PM has chosen not to speak whether that was right or wrong. You have to take the case to the people."

The much-awaited debate on the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha began at 12 noon on Tuesday. It was moved by the Congress and supported by the newly formed opposition bloc INDIA in an attempt to force Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on the ongoing ethnic clashes in Manipur.
PM Modi will reply to the motion on Thursday (August 10).
Since the beginning of the Monsoon session, the Parliament proceedings have been disrupted as the Opposition bloc have remained steadfast over their demand for a statement by the Prime Minister on the floor of the House.
