New Delhi: In a battle of heavyweights, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh on Saturday decided to fight 2017 assembly elections against Chief Minister Parkash Badal from Lambi constituency.
“Have decided to fight Punjab Elections 2017 from Lambi. Will make it official soon,” Amarinder said in a tweet.
The triangular fight to claim Lambi seat will also include Aam Aadmi Party’s Jarnail Singh is contesting from the seat. CM Badal had filed his papers from his traditional bastion Lambi on Thursday. He has represented and won in 1997, 2002, 2007and 2012 here. A shoe was hurled at Badal on Wednesday by a relative of a radical Sikh leader during an election campaign at Ratta Khera village in Lambi. Punjab will witness a three-way fight between the SAD, AAP and Congress in all 117 seats. While Congress is going it alone on all seats, ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and its ally BJP will contest on 94 and 23 seats respectively.
