Army Says China Sitting Inside Our Territory, But PM Denies It: Rahul Gandhi's Big Charge In Lok Sabha

Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Indian Army contradicted PM Modi's claim of no Chinese intrusion, asserting China occupies 4000 sq km of Indian territory.

The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a big allegation on Monday saying the Indian Army has contradicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim over Chinese intrusion in Indian territory.

Replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address in Lok Sabha, the Congress MP said "The Prime Minister has denied it and the Army has contradicted the Prime Minister that China is sitting on 4000 sq km of our territory."

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla responded to Gandhi's claim saying he will have to present evidence on what he is speaking in the House.

He further slammed the Narendra Modi dispensation saying "China has been sitting inside this country because 'Make In India' has failed.

"The reason China is sitting inside this country is because India is refusing to produce and I'm worried that India is going to give up this revolution to the Chinese once again, Gandhi said.

"If and when we fight a war with China, we will be fighting with Chinese electric motors, Chinese batteries and Chinese optics and we will be buying Chinese motors, Chinese optics and Chinese batteries," he added.

The Raebareli MP further said China has a 10-year lead against India on the data that is used to make "basically all electronics on the planet today".

LoP Takes Dig On Economic Policies, Rijiju Responds

During his address, the LoP also took a dig at the NDA government's economic policies saying that had the government taken those seriously, the External Affairs Minister would not have had to go to the United States to get an invitation for PM Modi for Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony.

Interrupting Gandhi's speech, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the LoP cannot make such a "serious unsubstantial statement."

"This is related to the relation between two countries and he is making an unverified statement about the invitation of the Prime Minister of our country...," Rijiju said.

Gandhi responded by saying, "I apologise for disturbing your peace of mind..."
