Pakistani Drones Spotted In Punjab, BSF Soldiers Force Them To Return

DIG BSF, Gurdaspur said that jawans fired upon the drones to stop them from entering any further.

The Border Security Force soldiers fired at and stopped Pakistani drones from entering in Punjab at the force's Chandu Wadala and Kasowal posts on Sunday night. Gurdaspur DIG said that the jawans fired upon the drone to deter it from entering and that nearby areas are being searched. 

“The jawans fired upon it to deter it from entering any further. Nearby areas are being searched,” Prabhakar Joshi, BSF DIG, Gurdaspur said, reported ANI. 

Earlier on December 4, a drone along with three kg of heroin was recovered near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Tarn Taran district. The recovery was made in a joint operation of the Punjab Police and the Border Security Force. 

"Carrying on the special drive against trans-border smuggling networks, Tarn Taran Police and BSF, in a joint operation have recovered a quadcopter drone with 3 kg heroin during a search in an area of PS Valtoha, Tarn Taran," said the Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav in a tweet. 

The Border Security Forces troops on December 3 recovered three packets, containing 7.5 kgs of suspected heroin, one pistol, two magazines, and 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition from a drone entering from Pakistan in the area near Churiwala Chusti, Fazilka, news agency ANI reported citing officials.

“BSF troops recovered 3 packets, containing 7.5 kgs of suspected heroin, 1 pistol, 2 magazines & 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition, that were carried by a drone entering from Pakistan in the area near Churiwala Chusti, Fazilka. They had tried to intercept it by firing,” PRO BSF was quoted by ANI as saying.
