JP Nadda To Interact With Head Of Missions On Saturday
The head of missions from nine countries will participate in an interaction with BJP president J P Nadda on Saturday as part of the "Know BJP initiative launched by the party, the BJP said in a statement said on Friday.
So far, Nadda has interacted with the head of missions from many countries in two rounds, and two more such events are likely to be held on June 13 and 15. The party has focussed primarily on countries with a sizeable population of the people of Indian origin as part of its outreach.
Heatwave To Return In Parts Of Delhi On Saturday
A heatwave saw the mercury breach the 45-degree Celsius mark in parts of capital on Friday and it is likely to get worse on the weekend. At the Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's base station, the maximum temperature settled at 42.9 degrees Celsius as against 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 41.9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
The Met office has issued a yellow alert, warning of heatwave at isolated places in the capital on Saturday. The mercury may jump to 44 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung Observatory, it said.
4,700 Athletes Set To Vie For Honours In Khelo India Youth Games
Nearly 4,700 athletes, including 2,262 girls, will participate in the Khelo India Youth Games which begins in Haryana's Panchkula on Saturday.
The Tau Devi Lal Complex here has been decked up for the grand opening ceremony.
Among the popular games being held here are athletics, football, badminton, table tennis, kabaddi, handball, wrestling, volleyball, boxing and the five indigenous sports.
Four other cities - Ambala (gymnastics, swimming), Shahabad (hockey), Chandigarh (archery and football) and New Delhi (cycling and shooting) - will also play hosts to some disciplines.
Hindu Seer To Offer Prayers Before Claimed Shivling In Gyanvapi Mosque
A disciple of Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati Thursday announced that he and his followers will offer prayers at a Shivling', which was claimed to be found in the Gyanvapi complex during a court-monitored survey of the premises, on June 4.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand also said if the administration stops them from offering prayers, he would inform the Shankaracharya and follow his instructions.
"In Gyanvapi, 'Vishwanath Ji' (Lord Shiva) has been found and we are gathering material for prayers on behalf of Hindu community," he told reporters in Varanasi.
