JMI Student Mohsin Ahmed Arrested For 'IS Link' Sent In NIA Remand Till Aug 16

Originally hailing from Patna, Ahmed was arrested fro his residence in Delhi's Batla House by a search party, said a spokesperson of the NIA.

New Delhi: Student of Jamia Millia Islamia, Mohsin Ahmed was sent to National Investigation Agency's (NIA) remand till August 16 on Saturday in connection with terror funding case. He was produced before the special court earlier in the day. The active member of terror outfit, ISIS, was arrested by the federal anti-terror agency, said the officials on Saturday who claimed that the “radicalised” individuals was collecting money for the global terror outfit. 

Originally hailing from Patna, Ahmed was arrested from his residence in Delhi's Batla House by a search party, said a spokesperson of the NIA, quoted by news agency PTI. 

"Ahmad is a radicalised and active member of ISIS. He has been arrested for his involvement in collection of funds for ISIS from sympathisers in India as well as abroad," the spokesperson said, adding he was sending these funds to Syria and other places in the form of cryptocurrency in order to further ISIS' activities. 

The federal agency on July 31 had conducted searches at 13 premises of suspected persons across six states -- Bhopal and Raisen in Madhya Pradesh, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Arariya in Bihar, Bhatkal and Tumkur City in Karnataka, Kolhapur and Nanded in Maharashtra and Deoband in Uttar Pradesh.
