Bombay HC Seeks Nawab Malik's Response On Defamation Suit Filed By Sameer Wankhede's Father

A bench led by Justice Madhav Jamdar on Monday directed Malik to file his affidavit by Tuesday.

New Delhi: After Sameer Wankhede's father Dhyandev Wankhede filed a defamation suit against Nawab Malik, Bombay High Court on Monday ordered the Maharashtra minister and NCP leader to submit an affidavit in response to the defamation suit.

A bench led by Justice Madhav Jamdar on Monday directed Malik to file his affidavit by Tuesday. He further announced that the further hearing regarding the matter will be held on Wednesday.

Without restraining Malik to make any further comments against the plaintiff, Justice Jamdar said, "You (Malik) file your reply by tomorrow. If you can reply on Twitter, you can reply here also."

While appearing for Dhyandev Wankhade's defamation suit, Advocate Arshad Shaikh informed the HC that the defendant is everyday making some false and defamatory remarks against his client and his family thus leading to further remarks on social media which add to further defamation.

Arguing that the NCB leader should be restrained from making any further comments regarding the plaintiff and his family, Advocate Shaikh told the court about the recent tweet posted by the defendant in the morning about Sameer Wankhede's sister-in-law.

While slamming Sameer Wankhde's sister-in-law, NCP leader Malik on Monday on his official Twitter handle writes, "Sameer Dawood Wankhede, is your sister-in-law Harshada Dinanath Redkar involved in the drug business? You must answer because her case is pending before the Pune court. Here is the proof."

In defence of Nawab Malik, Advocate Atul Damle informed the court that the plaintiff has no right to speak on behalf of his adult children and the comments made on social media can not be attributed to the defendant.

In his defamation suit, Dhyandev Wankhede sought Rs 1.25 crore from Malik for allegedly making defamatory statements against his son Sameer Wankhede and family through press conferences and via social media.
