'BJP Wants To Kill Arvind Kejriwal': AAP Alleges Supremo Attacked During 'Padyatra', Virendra Sachdeva Responds

Aam Aadmi Party leaders including Kejriwal are undertaking padyatras (foot marches) in various assembly segments in Delhi ahead of the February 2025 Assembly polls.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday alleged that people affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party attacked AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal during his 'padyatra' in West Delhi's Vikaspuri in the evening. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Singh called it "dirty politics" and alleged that the "BJP wants to kill Kejriwal", while AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj called the attempt "cowardly". Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, meanwhile, said that Kejriwal was calling it a "BJP-sponsored attack" since the public was asking him questions regarding work done for tackling water pollution.

Bharadwaj claimed that the BJP had planned the attack because Kejriwal is going among the masses and is receving their love and affection. "We want to make it clear that if Kejriwal faces any danger to his life or any harm is done to him, only the BJP will be responsible for it," he alleged.

A senior police officer told news agency PTI that they did receive any official complaint from the AAP regarding the attack. He said the yatra was organised in a narrow lane of around half a kilometer where some sloganeering happened against the AAP, but no evidence of manhandling or attempt to assault had been found yet.

'If Anything Happens To Arvind Kejriwal Delhi Will Never Forgive BJP': Delhi CM Atishi

Delhi CM Atishi targeted the BJP claiming that the party had been troubling Arvind Kejriwal for the past two years. She accused the party of getting him arrested, resfusing to provide him with insulin in jail despite his diabetes history, and now "planning an attack to kill him".

"Over the past two years, BJP has not left any stone unturned in troubling Arvind Kejriwal; filed false cases against him and got him arrested... When he was in jail, BJP refused to give insulin to a man with 30-year diabetes history. He received the insulin when AAP workers and Delhi people protested on the streets...He received insulin after getting court orders. Since BJP is now clearing seeing that their attempts to trouble Arvind Kejriwal have failed on all fronts, they now want to kill Arvind Kejriwal and that's why, a deadly attack was planned on him during his padyatra. I want to tell the BJP that people of Delhi will never forgive them if anything happens to Arvind Kejriwal..." Delhi CM alleged.

'When ED, CBI Couldn't Stop Us, Nothing Can Stop Us': Gopal Rai

Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said that the BJP is frustrated ever since Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders got out of jail. He accused the party of resorting to "condemnable acts" and asserted that nobody can stop the AAP.

"BJP thought Arvind Kejriwal would not come out of jail and that all the (AAP) leaders will remain behind the bars and they will form the government (in Delhi). Ever since AAP leaders have been released from jail, BJP is frustrated. BJP is not able to decide what to do; and now when Arvind Kejriwal is reaching out to masses in padyatra, they have now resorted to such condemnable acts. Earlier too, they have done such things. But I want to tell them, when their ED and CBI could not stop us, nothing can stop us. People of Delhi will give an answer to this in the Assembly polls..." Gopal Rai said.

'BJP Will Be Responsible If Anything Happens To Kejriwal': Sanjay Singh

AAP MP Sanjay Singh also alleged that the BJP attacked Kejriwal during the padyatara. He also said that if anything happens to the AAP supremo then BJP will be held responsible for it.

"Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi CM and AAP national convenor, was conducting a padyatra in Vikaspuri when he was attacked by BJP's men. Earlier, ED and CBI were used to jail Arvind Kejriwal, and he was not given insulin in an effort to kill him. And now when he is conducting padyatras, he was attacked by BJP. If something happens to Arvind Kejriwal, then BJP will be responsible for it," he said.

'If Public Is Asking Him Questions, He Is Calling It BJP-Sponsored Attack'

Reacting to these allegations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that the AAP was blaming the saffron party and calling the incident a "BJP-sponsored attack" just because public was asking Kejriwal questions.

"If public is asking Arvind Kejriwal questions, then what problem does he have? Today, people just asked Arvind Kejriwal questions over polluted water. If people are asking him questions, then he is calling it a BJP-sponsored attack," Sachdeva said.
