The BJP staged a protest in Delhi demanding the resignation jailed Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest in the national capital on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the AAP was trying to divert attention from the liquor policy scam by protesting outside the prime minister’s residence.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "They [AAP] want to divert the attention from the alcohol scam. They keep saying that they are getting orders (from jail)... Arvind Kejriwal is doing drama from the ED custody. I have given a written complaint to the LG and ED director that action should be taken on the false letter that they had produced... The way gangsters and extortionists operate gangs from jail, they want to operate the CM office... A corrupt like Arvind Kejriwal cannot be the CM. He has to resign..."

Meanwhile, AAP called for a 'gherao' at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence to register its protest against the arrest of CM Kejriwal in the liquor policy case on Tuesday. According to the Delhi Police, the security at PM Modi's residence has been strengthened and they have not granted permission to the AAP to hold any protests. The plan to 'gherao' PM residence against Kejriwal's arrest was announced earlier by Delhi Minister Gopal Rai who also said that "mega protests" would be held nationwide.
The AAP national convener has been accused of soliciting kickbacks from liquor traders in exchange for favours, as per the claims by the ED. However, these allegations have been refuted by Kejriwal who accused the BJP-led Central government of "manipulating investigative agencies for political motives".
