New Delhi: West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Sukanta Majumdar has called a strike in Uttar Dinajpur on Tuesday to protest against the murder of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) district vice president Mithun Ghosh.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari claimed that Ghosh was gunned down by the assailants in Itahar of Uttar Dinajpur and cornered the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal over the incident.

“Uttar Dinajpur dist. @BJYM VP Mithun Ghosh has been shot dead by assailants at Itahar. This is TMC's handiwork written all over it. The bloodthirsty antisocial hound dogs who executed their master's orders would be taken to task when the tide turns. We won't  forget Mithun Ghosh,” he tweeted.

The TMC, however, hit back at the BJP stating Adhikari’s “allegation is baseless”.

“Why will TMC murder him (BJYM VP Mithun Ghosh)? We don't know what happened exactly but the police is investigating the matter. Suvendu Adhikari's allegation is baseless. Alleging TMC for killing BJP is trying to avoid their own internal issues,” TMC general secretary Kunal Ghosh said, ANI reported.
