Modi Cabinet Expansion: Scindia, Sonowal, Other Leaders Reach PM's Residence; Oath-Taking At 6 PM

It is believed that this time 17 to 22 new ministers may be included in the Modi cabinet expansion, while some old ministers may be relieved from their duties.

New Delhi: A major reshuffle of the Union council of ministers in on the card. After days of speculations, it is being confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet will be expanded Today evening. Those to be inducted in council of ministers have started reaching PM Modi's residence.

Scindia, Sonowal, Pashupati Paras, Preetam Munde, Heena Gavit, Bhupendra Yadav, Meenakshi Lekhi among others have reached the Prime Minister's residence. Union Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Anurag Thakur are also present at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, ahead of Union Cabinet reshuffling.

Attention will be paid to sub-regional claims within bigger states like UP, Maharashtra, Gujarat or Karnataka. The OBC presence seems set for a big jump.

This will be the first cabinet expansion in Modi's government after he came back to power for the second time in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. It is believed that this time 17 to 22 new ministers can join, while some of the old ministers may be relieved. In the expansion of the cabinet, preference will be given to the experience of governance and system.

Along with this, the emphasis will be on the selection of youth leaders for the cabinet. It is speculated that the new cabinet will be the youngest Council Of Ministers, India has had until now. Apart from this, the percentage of the representation of women will be increased.

Young leaders with professional education like MBA post-graduation may be included in the new cabinet. Also, the bigger state will be given a higher share in representation. Representation from areas like Bundelkhand, Purvanchal, Marathwada, Konkan is being considered.

The smallest communities will be given a chance to be represented, including Yadavs, Kurmis, Jats, Kahrs, Pasi, Koris, and Lodhis. Two dozen OBC or backward class ministers will be in the cabinet after this expansion. The representation of scheduled castes will be the highest among the governments so far.
