Coronavirus: Bhopal To have 48-Hour Weekend Shutdown As Covid-19 Cases Continue To Surge

Madhya Pradesh government has announced that the capital city Bhopal will remain open only for 5 days and will remain shut during the weekend.

New Delhi: As Madhya Pradesh faces a surge in the number of coronavirus cases, the government has decided that the capital city Bhopal will observe lockdown for two days in a week. According to Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Narottam Mishra, it has been decided that Bhopal will remain open for 5 days and will remain closed during the weekend. At present, there are 2730 active cases and 427 fatalities caused due to the virus. There are about 6892 cases that have been cured or discharged. Also Read: Now Dhananjay Munde Tests Positive For Coronavirus; Third Maharashtra Minister To Be Infected The Minister also said that they have been directed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has to focus on Bhopal as the situation in other parts of the state was under control. As India gradually lifts its lockdown in phases, greater relaxations were given to different activities. In Bhopal shops that were outside the containment zones could open. He also said that the doubling rate is 31 days in the state and the growth rate in the state is 2.3 percent as compared to the national average which is 4.7 percent. He said that the data indicated that the pandemic is under control in the state. India has a total of 286579 cases out of which 137448 are active cases. Globally, India is the fifth-worst affected country and stands after United Kingdom which has 292860 cases.
