Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad Allowed To Visit Delhi As Court Modifies Bail Conditions

New Delhi: A Delhi Court on Tuesday modified conditions of Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad's bail allowing him to visit the national capital, putting in place some conditions for his return. According to reports, the court directed Azad to provide the schedule of his visit to the city to the concerned District Commissioner of Police (DCP) whenever he visits for medical treatment or for the purpose of elections. He was granted bail last week. Modifying his earlier bail conditions, Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau said that election is the biggest democratic festival and he should be allowed to participate in the elections as they are the essential part of a democracy. ALSO WATCH | Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad Spotted At Jama Masjid For CAA Protests Earlier, the court had restrained Azad from visiting Delhi for four weeks and directed him to not hold any 'dharna' till the elections in the national capital, while granting him bail in the case. The court had directed the police to verify from the Election Commission whether Azad's office in Delhi is an office of a political party and asked it to submit a report by Tuesday. The court was hearing a plea filed by Azad seeking modification of the conditions imposed on him in his bail order. In its previous judgement, the court had ruled out that the conditions were for a period of one month in view of the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi and Azad might seek modification of the order in pursuance to the legal rights available to him. Last week, the court reprimanded the Delhi Police for failing to show any evidence against the Bhim Army chief who was arrested in the wake of violence that broke out during the anti-CAA protests in Daryaganj area last month. In his bail plea, Azad said there was no evidence against him in the FIR which states that he had instigated the crowd to march to Delhi Gate from Jama Masjid and indulge in violence. "No motive has been attributed to the accused in the present FIR, and all charges have been added mechanically," the plea said. Azad said he suffers from severe physical disability, and it cannot be comprehended that he could at all influence any witness. It is to be considered that all the material witnesses in the incident are police officials, and therefore it is further unlikely that any witness tampering will be attempted by any individual, he said.
