'Azad Or No Azad...': Congress Releases List Of Publicity In-Charges, Coordinators For 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'

Bharat Jodo Yatra, that will cover a distance of 3,750km from Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir over a period of 150 days, was taken at the Chintan Shivir held in Rajasthan’s Udaipur earlier this year.

New Delhi: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Friday released a state-wise list of publicity and media in-charges and coordinators for the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Congress media department head Pawan Khera wrote, “Azad or no Azad the Congress organisational machine moves ahead with determination. First list of state wise media & publicity in charges and coordinators for Bharat Jodo Yatra.”

“The Media and Publicity Department of the AICC has approved the appointment of the following to coordinate the media activities of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the respective states, from where this historic yatra will be crossing. Bharat Jodo Yatra is not an event but a movement to bring together the people, from all walks of life, against the several evils that are plaguing the country today. The party and the leadership have high hopes and immense faith in you to promulgate the spirit of the Yatra amongst the people of India,” the statement issued by Khera read.

It is to be noted that this comes on a day when eight senior Congress members, including Ghulam Nabi Azad, resigned from the primary membership of the party.

Azad left the party a few days after turning down a major position in the Jammu and Kashmir Congress, claiming that his suggestions for the group had been disregarded.

In a five-page resignation letter, the leader slammed the Gandhis, blaming Rahul Gandhi of "childish behaviour," irresponsibility, and allowing a "coterie of inexperienced sycophants" to rule the party.

"Unfortunately, after the entry of Rahul Gandhi into politics and particularly after January 2013 when he was appointed as the Vice President by you, the entire consultative mechanism which existed earlier was demolished by him," he stated in his resignation letter.

Notably, the Bharat Jodo Yatra, that will cover a distance of 3,750km from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu to Jammu and Kashmir over a period of 150 days, was taken at the Chintan Shivir held in Rajasthan’s Udaipur earlier this year.
