Owaisi Questions PM Modi’s 'Chadar' Gesture: 'BJP, Sangh Parivar Challenging Ajmer Dargah In Courts'

AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi questioned PM Modi's ceremonial offering to Ajmer Dargah citing pleas disputing the existing mosques or Dargahs.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and AAP, alleging that both parties are ideologically aligned and rooted in Hindutva politics. He described the RSS as the "mother" of both parties and claimed that AAP, like the BJP, is a product of "lab-grown Hindutva."

"The mother (RSS) created them (BJP and AAP). RSS created Jan Sangh, and later BJP was formed in 1980. The other (AAP) was formed in 2012-13. It is a big institute. It is lab-grown Hindutva," Owaisi said while addressing reporters, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Owaisi criticised the symbolic gesture of sending a ceremonial 'chadar' to Ajmer Dargah by Prime Minister Modi, asserting that it does not stop claims being filed in courts disputing the existing mosques or Dargahs.

"The message behind sending the 'chadar' is that the government takes care of those who keep faith in the mosques. However, the BJP and Sangh Parivar people are going to courts stating that Khwaja Ajmeri Dargah is not a Dargah, as was their argument with some mosques," he said.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju presented the 'chadar' at the Ajmer Dargah during the 'Urs' of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Owaisi, however, demanded that the government take steps to stop disputes over mosques and Dargahs in courts, particularly in BJP-ruled states such as Uttar Pradesh.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's virtual foundation-laying ceremony for a college named after Veer Savarkar, Owaisi raised questions about the NDA government's stance on the Kapoor Commission's findings. The commission reportedly suggested Savarkar's involvement in the conspiracy to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi.

"While the BJP's hatred towards Mughals is known, how come the BJP loves the person who had a role in Gandhiji's assassination?" he asked.

Owaisi Says AIMIM Will Contest Delhi Election, Accuses AAP Govt Of Duping Waste In Minority Areas

On his party's plans for the Delhi Assembly elections, Owaisi stated that the AIMIM would contest, and the decision on the number of seats would be taken by the party's Delhi unit president.

He accused the AAP government of neglecting Muslim-majority localities in Delhi, alleging that waste is dumped disproportionately in these areas. "The Aam Aadmi Party does a drama that it has built schools and hospitals, but the claims of development are false. This can be seen in localities of the Muslims," he remarked.

Addressing the Centre’s stance on China, Owaisi accused the government of being passive despite China forming two new counties and constructing dams in disputed territories. "This government is scared of China. What protest? They (China) are forming counties, dam on our land? Who will suffer if the dam is built?" he questioned.

He also highlighted concerns over the alleged oppression of Muslims in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, and demanded transparency regarding the share of Muslims in housing and other government welfare schemes.
