Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday during the special session of Delhi Legislative Assembly to discuss farmer’s agitation issue, torn the copy of the three farm laws. Thousands of farmers from the last 22 days have been protesting against the contentious farm laws enacted by the Union Government in September earlier this year, during the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. The Delhi CM while tearing the copy of the legislation appealed to the Central government to take back the farm laws and asked 'what was the hurry to pass the new legislation in Parliament during the pandemic’. "What was the hurry to get Farm Laws passed in Parliament during a pandemic? It has happened for 1st time that 3 laws were passed without voting in Rajya Sabha...I hereby tear 3 Farm laws in this assembly & appeal Centre not to become worse than Britishers", Kejriwal said during the assembly session. So far, the farmers and the Centre have met for multiple rounds of talks, but no breakthrough has been achieved yet. None of the sides is willing to stand down, as farmers want the law to be scrapped but the center on the other hand is adamant to amend the problematic sections. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Thursday resumed the hearing of pleas seeking direction to authorities to order the removal of protesters from Delhi borders. During the hearing, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) remarked that farmers have the right to protest, but it must not endanger life and property.
