Pakistani intruder killed as Army foils major infiltration attempt along Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district: Defence spokesman.

As per the report, the troops guarding the LoC picked up the movement of terrorists and challenged them in the early hours of the day, the officials said. They said an exchange of fire broke out between the two sides which continued for quite some time.

ANI mentioned PRO Defence Jammu as saying: "On the intervening night of 8-9 Apr, alert troops of Indian Army detected some suspicious movement of a group of individuals. The individuals were challenged by Indian Army troops on own side of LoC, close to the fence. On being intercepted, in the ensuing operations, one dead body has been seen & the other intruders ran into the forest area. Cordon of the area has been established and search operation is in progress."

Last week on Monday, Jammu Police recovered a cache of arms and explosive materials from a package suspected to have been airdropped by a drone from across the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district. The package found at Vijaypur contained three pistols, four bombs, six magazines, and 48 rounds in it.

According to news agency PTI, the police suspect that the package was dropped by a drone from across the border. ASP Choudhary said, "...It looks like the weapons consignment has been dropped by drone (from across the International Border).

"...it had a box and a long string of plastic measuring 50 metres… It looks like (air) dropping," he added.

The senior police official stated that the exact detail can be ascertained only after an investigation.

Several incidents of weapons, narcotics, cash and explosive materials being airdropped by drones suspected to be from across the international border have come to light in the Union Territory's Samba, Kathua and Jammu districts in recent months.

According to security officials, Pakistan-based terror groups use drones to smuggle arms and narcotics into Jammu and Kashmir.
