Earlier, Amul had also raised the cost of milk by Rs 2 per litre in August.
"The GCMMF has decided to increase the milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in the markets of Ahmedabad and Saurashtra region in Gujarat, Delhi NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and all other markets where Amul milk is sold," the Anand-headquartered federation had said.
Mother Dairy also increased the cost of milk by Rs 2 per litre in the Delhi-NCR area during the same month.
The increase in retail milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, despite higher-than-expected increases in procurement prices, transport expenses, and packaging costs, will prevent the organised dairy sector's profitability from declining by more than 50 basis points this fiscal.
Amit Shah stated that Amul would be united with five other cooperative societies to establish a multi-state cooperative society on October 10 while addressing the 70th plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC). He added that the process has already begun.
