Amul Dairy Director Board Polls: Setback To Ruling BJP, Congress Wins 8 Out Of 11 Seats

The counting of votes took place on Monday in which, the Congress party won eight out of 11 seats in Amul dairy board of directors elections.

In a major setback to the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress party has won eight out of 11 seats in Amul dairy board of directors elections. The polling for the board of directors representing the 11 blocks of the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited were held on Saturday, August 29 after the stipulated period of five years. The counting of votes took place on Monday in which, majority of winning candidates are from Congress and a few from BJP. ALSO READ | Relief For Airtel, Vodafone Idea, Others As SC Gives Telecom Operators 10 Years To Pay Pending AGR Dues The names of winning candidates from Congress includes Sanjay Patel, Kanti Sodha Parmar in Anand, Rajendrasinh Parmar in Borsad-Anklav, Sita Parmar in Khambhat, Vipul Patel in Petlad, Ghela Zala in Kathlal, Rajesh Pathak in Balasinor and Gautam Chauhan from Mahemdavad. In Matar block, Sanjay Patel, who had contested against BJP MLA from Matar Kesarisinh Solanki, outraced the latter by winning 47 of the 88 votes cast. As per the vote count, Solanki got 26 votes, another candidate Dhiru Chavda got 14 while one vote was rejected. In Anand Block, Congress MLA Kanti Sodha Parmar defeated BJP and other candidates by securing 41 out of a total of 107 vote. Candidates who lost the race for the Anand block included BJP's Govind Parmar from Umreth who got 37 votes, Bharat Solanki got 24 while Natwarsinh Chauhan and Shiva Parmar could manage only one vote. In Borsad block, Amul Vice-Chairman and veteran Congress MLA Rajendrasinh Parmar registered a whopping victory by bagging all the 93 votes cast. In Khambhat, Sita Parmar won the seat after she secured 73 out of 98 votes while one vote was rejected. The candidates who suffered defeat in Khambhat include Hiranakshi Patel who got 14 votes and Daksha Patel, who got 10 votes. In Kathalal, Congress’ Ghela Zala won with 48 out of the total 98 votes, while other candidates Rajesh Zala, Shana Sodha Parmar and Rajendra Patel got 28, 19 and 3 votes respectively. Meanwhile, former BJP MLA Rajesh Pathak who contest for the Balasinor block won the elections with as many as 62 votes out of a total of 86 votes. In Kapadvanj, Shardaben Patel won with 52 of 100 votes; former Congress MLA Gautam Chauhan won the Mahemdavad seat with 50 of 97 votes while Vipul Patel who got 58 of 100 votes managed to win the Nadiad seat.
