Amit Shah To Unveil Documentary On Asia's Oldest Newspaper Today: Mumbai Samachar, 202 Yrs Old & Counting

'Mumbai Samachar - 200 Not Out' takes a deep dive into Gujarati daily's pivotal role in India’s Independence, its dedication to unbiased reporting, and secrets behind its enduring success.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is set to unveil the documentary 'Mumbai Samachar - 200 Not Out' on Sunday. The documentary will tell the story of the remarkable 200-year journey of Gujarati daily ‘Mumbai Samachar’, Asia’s oldest newspaper.

Seen as an integral part of Mumbai’s identity, the 'Mumbai Samachar' is in its 203rd year of publication. It is the only newspaper to reach this milestone, PTI reported.

'Mumbai Samachar - 200 Not Out' takes a deep dive into the newspaper's pivotal role in India’s Independence, its dedication to unbiased reporting, and the secrets behind its enduring success despite the recent downturn in the fortunes of print media. According to PTI, the documentary will be released simultaneously in 40 countries. It will offer a historical perspective not only for 'Mumbai Samachar' but also for the entire newspaper industry.

In June 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the trailer for 'Mumbai Samachar - 200 Not Out' during the newspaper’s bicentenary event.

To commemorate the documentary release, renowned Gujarati folk artists Sairam Dave and Milan Trivedi will perform a comedy show, 'Khadakhdat Hasya Darbar', as per PTI.

Amit Shah In Jammu

Shah will arrive in Mumbai after a poll campaign trip to Jammu, where he released the party's manifesto. He arrived in Jammu on Friday, and was received at the airport by Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Jitendra Singh, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, and senior party leaders of Jammu and Kashmir.

On Saturday, during an address, Shah assured statehood to Jammu and Kashmir after the upcoming elections. The announcement came days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a similar promise, saying his party would “restore statehood to J&K after coming to power”.

During his address, the home minister said the NDA government will not allow the revival of terrorism, autonomy, or injustice with any community, including Gujjars, Pahari, Bakerwals and Dalits who were granted reservation by the BJP dispensation.
