Amit Shah To Reach J&K Armed Police HQ To Pay Tribute To Pahalgam Victims

Amit Shah is expected to reach Pahalgam shortly, where he will pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police Headquarters, where he will pay tribute to the victims of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. He is expected to arrive shortly.

Following this, the Home Minister will visit the hospital in Srinagar where the injured are being treated. He is also expected to visit the site in Pahalgam where the terrorist incident took place. Shah is likely to return to Delhi later this afternoon.

Terrorists opened fire at a prime tourist location in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people, in what is the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019. The deceased, mostly tourists, included two foreigners, one each from the UAE and Nepal. The attack was claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist group, news agency PTI reported.

Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Saudi Arabia on a two-day visit earlier in the day, decided to cut short his visit and return to New Delhi. He landed in Delhi on Wednesday morning and was immediately briefed by the officials upon his return.

US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni were among world leaders who condemned the terror attack, expressing solidarity with India.

Trump also called PM Modi and strongly condemned the terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam. He expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack.

"President Donald Trump @realDonaldTrump @POTUS called PM @narendramodi and conveyed his deepest condolences at the loss of innocent lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir," Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.

Home Minister Amit Shah had also rushed to Srinagar on Tuesday evening to oversee the security measures. The prime minister has vowed that these behind the attack will not be spared and brought to justice.
