Amit Shah Reacts To SC Bail To Kejriwal, Says 'Not Normal Judgment, Special Treatment Given To Him'

Amit Shah has questioned the Supreme Court's grant of interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal, claiming it was unusual and that Kejriwal received preferential treatment.

Union Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday made a big claim on the Supreme Court's judgment granting interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He said that the Supreme Court has the authority to grant bail, but he felt that the bail grant was not according to the "routine and normal" procedure.

The Supreme Court on May 10 granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 1, allowing him to take part in the Lok Sabha polls campaigns. However, the SC's relief came with several restrictions on Kejriwal. It forbade him to comment on the alleged Delhi liquor scam.

Reacting to the top court's decision, Amit Shah told news agency ANI: "The court has the right to grant him bail. But I feel it was not a routine and normal judicial judgment. He [Kejriwal] was given special treatment."

Shah also rubbished the allegations levelled by Arvind Kejriwal that cameras were placed in Tihar jail to monitor him and that the feed from the cameras was transmitted directly to the PMO. "Tihar jail is not under the Centre. It is administered by the Delhi government. They [AAP] have been continuously lying. Jail administration in Delhi is under the state government, not under the Union Home Ministry," Amit Shah.

Shah further brushed off the Delhi CM's claims that PM Modi would "retire" at 75 and the BJP's "guarantees" will become hollow promises. "One should not take Arvind Kejriwal seriously. His party is fighting on just 22 seats and is promising free electricity and mohalla clinics to the entire nation. How will he form the government to implement these promises by contesting 22 seats?" "I have clarified several times that PM Modi will lead us till 2029 and even after that. There is no good news for you [Arvind Kejriwal]."
