'Leaders Who Ditched NDA Must Be Punished': Amit Shah Attacks 'Paltu Babu' Nitish Kumar In Bihar

Addressing a mega rally in Bihar's Lakhisarai, Amit Shah said Opposition leaders who attended June 23 meeting in Patna were involved in scams.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah mounted a direct attack on "Paltu Babu" Nitish Kumar on Thursday, saying leaders who ditched the BJP-led NDA must be punished. Addressing a mega rally in Bihar's Lakhisarai, Shah said the Opposition leaders who attended June 23 meeting in Patna were involved in scams.

"Paltu babu Nitish Kumar was asking what was done (by the Centre) in nine years. At least have some regard for those with whom you sat and due to whom you became the Chief Minister. A lot of work was done by PM Modi across the country in these nine years," ANI quoted Amit Shah as saying.

Training his guns on Kumar, Shah asked the people if a leader who changes house again and again could be "trusted" with the reins of Bihar, where law and order was worsening by the day under the Mahagathbandhan govt.

"Should the reins of Bihar be given in the hands of such a man? He too knows it. That is why, he is sitting in front of Congress' house to be the PM of the country. He doesn't want to be the PM, he is just befooling Lalu Yadav at this age. He wants to stay here in Bihar and has gathered all rivals of BJP...These 20 parties are the ones who indulged in corruption & scams of Rs 20 lakh crores from 2004-2014," Shah further said.

Earlier in the day, Shah was received by senior BJP leaders, including BJP state president Samrat Choudhary. The former BJP president is visiting the state for the first time after the June 23 opposition meeting hosted by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. He last visited the state nearly three months ago.

The Munger Lok Sabha constituency is currently held by Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias 'Lalan', the national president of Nitish Kumar's JD(U), which dumped the BJP last year.

Ahead of the rally, Shah offered prayers at Ashok Dham, a famous shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Security was beefed up in the Munger Lok Sabha constituency in view of the Union Home Minister's visit, and drones were used for aerial surveillance as well,  news agency PTI reported police as informing.

Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Lakhisarai on Thursday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said everybody is free to visit the state. “Everyone is free to come here. Everyone has the right to visit Bihar,” the chief minister said to questions on Shah's visit to Lakhisarai, as quoted by PTI.
