Rahul Gandhi Says Congress Insiders Are Working For BJP In Gujarat, Hints At Mass Expulsion

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has expressed concerns about the party's functioning, suggesting that disloyal members working for the BJP should be expelled to ensure party unity.

Rahul Gandhi on Saturday raised questions about the functioning of his own party — the Congress. He even said that if 30-40 people are required to be expelled from the Congress to streamline the party's functioning, the party high command wouldn't hesitate.

Rahul Gandhi hinted that a few leaders could be working for the BJP from within the party, and they should be thrown out.

"There are two groups of Congressmen in Gujarat — one that holds dear the Congress ideology and another that is working with the BJP. These two groups need to be separated," he said. Gandhi was addressing party workers and former candidates of local body elections in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Rahul Gandhi said: "If needed, those working for the BJP will be thrown out. They won't find a place even there [BJP]."

'Chained Lions In Congress'

Rahul Gandhi said ground-level leaders should have Congress blood in their veins. "There is no dearth of leaders in the Congress... There are lions in the party, but they are chained," he said.

Hinting at stern action against those "working for the BJP", Gandhi said, "We should throw out throw out 30-40 such people, if needed." He said the organisational control of the Congress should go to only the loyalists.

If we succeed in doing this, people would come in large numbers to join us. "This is not a 5-year or 10-year project. This is a 50-year vision for the Congress," he said.

He said Congress's vision will never be achieved if the disloyal members are separated from the party.
