'Already Has Responsibility Of LoP': Sharad Pawar On Why Nephew Ajit Pawar Didn't Get Any New Post

NCP Chief said that he did not give any additional role to Ajit Pawar in the party reshuffle since he already has the responsibility as Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday stated that his decision to select two working presidents of the party was made to guarantee that the NCP's leadership team has enough hands to handle the party's issues across the nation. "The country's status is such that assigning authority for all states to just one person would have been inappropriate. Thinking of this, Praful Patel has been given the responsibility of Rajasthan and Goa, Supriya Sule for Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab Youth Wing. We are happy that our comrades have taken this responsibility," Pawar told reporters.

Sharad Pawar stated on Saturday that he did not give any additional role to Ajit Pawar in the party reshuffle since he already has the responsibility as Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly.

Sharad Pawar made the statement a few hours later after making the major announcement about handing over party leadership to the next generation of leaders.

Earlier today, Ajit Pawar had extended his congratulations and stated that "it is believed that all the colleagues will successfully fulfill the responsibilities given by the honorable sirs."

Taking to Twitter, Pawar stated: "Under the leadership and guidance of respected Sharad Chandra Pawar Saheb, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which is making its debut in the silver jubilee year with the idea of 'Maharashtra in the heart... eyes in front of the nation...' will make a valuable contribution to the development of the country and the state. It is believed that every worker and office bearer of NCP party will work towards this goal. Congratulations again to the newly elected officials!"

Speaking at the event of the party's anniversary, Sharad Pawar said, "All opposition parties have to come together, I am sure the people of this country will help us. On 23rd we all are meet in Bihar, discuss and come up with a programme and will travel across the country and present it to the people."
