Allahabad: Sonia Gandhi pauses during speech as 'Azaan' is heard in the background
New Delhi: The Congress President Sonia Gandhi paused during a speech as 'Azaan' was heard in the background on Monday.
She was speaking at the inauguration of an exhibition on the birth centenary celebration of Indira Gandhi in Allahabad.
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also halted his speech during Azaan in a rally in West Bengal.
Recalling her mother-in-law she said Indira Gandhi's biggest concern was to make the country strong and developed.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also present at the inauguration of the exhibition on the birth centenary celebration of Indira Gandhi.
Talking about demonetisation, Rahul Gandhi said it hurted economy in an unimaginable way especially fishermen, labourers working on daily wages& farmers in North India.
Meanwhile in what could give a boost to the Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, which are due in 2017, Priyanka Gandhi has, reportedly, agreed to campaign across the state.
Recently, Priyanka Gandhi, reportedly had also attended the party's campaign strategy meet.
In the past, Priyanka had limited herself only to Amethi and Raebareli Lok Sabha constituencies, represented by her brother Rahul Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi respectively. A large section of Congress leaders believes that the party will gain immensely in the state, presently ruled by Samajwadi Party, if she campaigns.
