‘Organised Cyber War’: After Pahalgam Attack, India Hit By 1 Million Cyberattacks From Pakistan, Middle East & More
After the Pahalgam terror attack, India has been facing an intensified cyber 'warfare' threat with nearly 1 million cyberattacks originating from Pakistan, the Middle East, Morocco, and Indonesia.

Following the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, India now faces an intensified threat on a new front — cyber warfare. According to a report by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell titled “Echoes of Pahalgam”, the country has been targeted by nearly 1 million cyberattacks since April 23. Maharashtra Cyber Chief Yashasvi Yadav told ABP News, “There has been a sharp rise in cyberattacks in India after the Pahalgam attack. This is not merely a digital assault, but an organised cyber war.”
This comes after Pahalgam terror attack, which took place on April 22, led to 26 deaths.
The report identifies the origin of these attacks as Pakistan, the Middle East, Morocco, and Indonesia. The groups involved claim to be Islamic cyber organisations, with the most active being Team Insane PK, a Pakistani Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) group. This group has reportedly targeted websites belonging to the Army College of Nursing, Sainik Welfare departments, and multiple Army Public Schools.
Cyber Offensives Include Website Defacements, CMS Exploitations, Command-And-Control Attacks
The cyber offensives include website defacements, CMS exploitations, and command-and-control attacks. Other prominent groups mentioned in the report are Bangladesh-based Mysterious Team Bangladesh (MTBD) and Indonesia’s Indo Hax Sec, both of which have been implicated in targeting Indian telecom data and local administration panels.
According to the report, all the attacks were launched from 26 April onwards, with several being successful. While Maharashtra Cyber has managed to intercept some of these intrusions, critical infrastructure — including railway networks, banking systems, and government portals — remains under serious threat.
The report further highlights vulnerabilities in India’s cyber defence systems, which have led to the success of several attacks. One alarming revelation is the leakage of terabytes of Indian telecom data on the dark web, raising significant concerns about national security.
Yadav added that agencies have been urged to strengthen their cybersecurity protocols. “We have appealed to agencies to fortify their cyber security, make red team assessments, DDoS failover tests, and system audits mandatory,” he said.
