'Shattered': Actor Samantha Seeks Justice For Kochi Teen Suicide, Calls For Action Against Bullying
Actor Samantha further pointed out the failure in implementing stringent anti-ragging laws, stating that students continue to suffer in silence, fearing consequences and dismissal of their complaints.

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has voiced her anguish over the suicide of Mihir Ahammed, a teenager from Kochi, by amplifying a heartfelt note posted by his mother, Rajna PM. The actor took to Instagram expressing that she was "absolutely shattered" by the incident and urged that bullying be treated as a serious offense.
Mihir Ahammed, a student at Global Public School in Thiruvaniyoor, Ernakulam, reportedly died by suicide by jumping from his home on January 15. His mother alleged that he had been subjected to relentless bullying, including inhumane acts such as being “forced to lick toilet seats.”
Samantha, sharing Rajna’s post with the hashtag #JusticeForMihir, demanded strict action and accountability from authorities. “This news has absolutely shattered me! It’s 2025. Yet, we’ve lost another bright young life, snuffed out because a few individuals, filled with hate and venom, pushed someone to the brink!” Samantha wrote. She condemned bullying as a form of violence—psychological, emotional, and sometimes physical—rather than just a “harmless tradition” or “rite of passage.”
The actor further pointed out the failure in implementing stringent anti-ragging laws, stating that students continue to suffer in silence, fearing consequences and dismissal of their complaints. “Where are we failing? This cannot be met with just condolences. It demands action. I hope the authorities get to the bottom of this and ensure that truth is not silenced by the system. Mihir deserves justice,” she added.
Calling for immediate and strict action, Samantha also addressed parents and students, emphasising the need to foster a culture of empathy and kindness. She urged her young followers to actively call out bullying and support victims instead of remaining silent.
“To all my young followers—if you see bullying, call it out. Speak up. Support the victim. Silence enables abuse. If you are bullied, seek help. There is always a way out. Mihir’s death should be a wake-up call. Justice for him means ensuring that no other student has to endure the same pain. We owe him that much,” she concluded.
