ABP Shikhar Sammelan: Know Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu's take on who will be the party's CM face in the upcoming assembly election.
ABP Shikhar Sammelan: As Political turmoil continues over next year's elections in Uttar Pradesh, state Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu took part in ABP News's 'Shikhar Sammelan'. He claimed that Congress would definitely come to power in the 2022 elections.
In regards to the party's CM candidate for UP, he said that such a decision would be made by the Congress High Command.
He said, "Priyanka Gandhi is in charge of UP. Employment, farmers, law and order, farmers' and women's security are important issues for her. We will continue fighting for people's demands. There was a moment where she was arrested while travelling to Sonbhadra. Priyanka Gandhi struggled but she did not give up and finally met the family of the victim. When injustice happened in Unnao, Shahjahanpur, Priyanka Gandhi herself went forward to meet the affected".
"In Hathras case, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi did not hesitate to go and meet the affected and listen to their demands, share their sorrows. Congress lives in the hearts of the people," he added.
'Congress Government to be formed in 2022'
Ajay Kumar Lallu, a two-time MLA from Kushinagar's Tamkuhiraj seat, said, "Congress has a long history. The party has not been in power for three decades. In the past 32 years, the ruling parties have looted UP's wealth, indulged in corruption, and have damaged the foundation built by Congress in UP".
"Congress started many industries to increase employment, made and executed welfare plans for weavers and encouraged growth of the brass industry. Politics has its own ups and downs. Congress would be surely forming their government in UP in 2022, that too with the blessings of the people of UP," he added.
He also claimed, "the Yogi government has filed hundreds of cases against me and has got me arrested thrice. Congress workers have also been jailed many times, but this never faltered their motivation to work towards progress".
Talking about Jitin Prasada joining BJP, Ajay Kumar Lallu said, "People who want to join political parties to fulfill their own personal interests are never welcome in Congress. The Congress helped him become a minister twice, an MLA and MP once. He is abandoning the party as soon as his personal interests have been fulfilled, making him a selfish person."
