ABP CVoter Karnataka Opinion Poll: Siddaramaiah Ahead Of Bommai As Most Preferred CM Candidate

ABP CVoter Opinion Poll: 39.1 per cent voters preferred former CM Siddaramaiah to again take the office while 31.1per cent voters chose Basavaraj Bomma to continue with a second term. 

ABP CVoter Karnataka Opinion Poll: With Karnataka going to elections in May, Congress leader Siddaramaiah seems to be ahead in the race as the most preferred chief minister candidate, according to an ABP News-CVoter survey. The opinion poll by ABP News and CVoter found that 39.1 per cent of voters would want to see former CM Siddaramaiah back on the post. 

Incumbent Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai from the Bharatiya Janata Party came next in the list of most preferred CM candidates, with 31.1 per cent people voters ready to give him a chance to continue with a second term. 

HD Kumaraswamy from Janata Dal (Secular) was the choice for the most preferred CM candidate for 21.4 per cent of voters, while Congress’s DK Shivakumar was preferred by 3.2 per cent of the respondents.

Nalin Kumar Kateel (BJP) was favoured by 1.6 per cent of voters as the next chief minister, followed by the Aam Aadmi Party candidate, which the party is yet to announce, chosen by 1.4 per cent of voters. 

Notably, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge ran far behind in the race for most preferred CM candidate, with just 0.7 per cent votes in his favour, while 0.3 per cent went to BJP’s Jagadish Shettar and 0.2 per cent voters to Others.

ABP CVoter Karnataka Opinion Poll: CM Bommai’s ‘Poor’ Performance 

The voters in Karnataka do not seem happy either with the work done by the BJP government or with the performance of Basavaraj Bommai as the CM of Karnataka. 

According to ABP CVoter Karnataka Opinion Poll, 46.9 per cent of the voters were not satisfied with Bommai’s performance as the CM and 50.5 per cent of the voters rated BJP government’s performance as “poor” in the country. 

As per the opinion poll, 27.7 per cent voters were satisfied with the performance of BJP government while 21.8 per cent found it to be ‘average’.

The Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the poll schedule for the state today. The 225-member Karnataka Assembly will go to elections on May 10 and the votes will be counted on May 13. One seat of the House is reserved for a nominated member from the Anglo-Indian community. 

The term of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly would end on May 24, 2023. 

The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party government, led by CM Basavaraj Bommai, is aiming to come back to power and has been stressing the Kannadiga issue and the recent decision to grant reservation to Lingayat and Vokkaliga communities by scrapping a religion-based reservation for the Muslim community. 

Meanwhile, Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) are trying to corner the BJP dispensation on the issue of corruption.
