4 Soldiers Dead In Bathinda Military Station Firing, Army Probing Missing Rifle Angle
Four Indian army soldiers have succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during the firing incident at Bathinda Military Station in Punjab.
Four Indian army soldiers on Wednesday succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during the firing incident at Bathinda Military Station in Punjab, reported ANI citing army officials. The statement added that the jawans belonged to an artillery unit and that no other injuries to personnel or loss/damage to property has been reported. The area continues to be sealed off and joint investigations with Punjab Police are being coordinated to establish the facts of the case.
Army said that all aspects including the possible case of involvement of an INSAS rifle along with 28 rounds reported missing two days back are being ascertained. It added that the families of jawans killed in the incident are being informed about the loss of lives.

Earlier, a firing incident was reported in the early hours of Wednesday inside Bathinda Military Station in Punjab. As per a statement by HQ SW Command, the firing took place at around 0435 hours and the Station Quick Reaction teams were activated while the area has been cordoned off and sealed. One suspicious person has been detained.
The search operation is in progress. The entire cantonment area has been sealed and the army is not telling anything to the state police department.

As per ANI, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be briefed by Army Chief General Manoj Pande on the Bathinda Military Station firing incident in a short while from now.
ANI reported citing Punjab police sources that there is no terror angle in the firing incident. Sources added that all the entry gates of the Army Cantt in Bathinda have been closed.
The gates of the Bathinda Military Station have been closed following the firing incident that has left four dead.
